Taranaki Health Foundation

The Taranaki Health Foundation makes a difference where it matters most - healthcare. We raise funds to enhance the services provided by Taranaki DHB.

Since 1998, The Taranaki Health Foundation has been raising funds for key health projects, services, and facilities – above and beyond that provided by the Government. We fill the gap in healthcare funding to make sure Taranaki has access to the healthcare services it needs and deserves. We have raised funds for projects in both Taranaki Base Hospital and Hāwera Hospital, as well as supporting DHB funded initiatives in the community.

100% of donations to Taranaki Health Foundation go directly to healthcare projects – not on operations or admin. We a small but dedicated team, able to efficiently raise funds through a variety of techniques that involve businesses, community groups and the public.

Some of the projects we have raised money for include raising $3.6 million for a new Angiography Suite at Taranaki Base Hospital in 2017, and $10 million for Project Maunga Stage 1 in 2013. This provided enhancements to the new Acute Services Building.

We are currently focussed on raising at least $25 million for enhancements to Project Maunga Stage 2. This will see the construction of the New East Wing Building, which will house much needed new departments for Radiology, Emergency, ICU, Maternity and Neonatal. It will also supplement funds for the construction of a new standalone Cancer Unit. This will mean patients will be able to stay local for radiotherapy as well as chemotherapy.
