Microsoft Excel: Macros and Introduction to VBA
- allow everyday repetitive tasks and actions to be automated
- are easy to make
- record all the keyboard strokes of an action and then repeat them when required
- save time and reduce errors
Macros can be used to:
- format data
- set up worksheets and reports
- analyse data
- create invoices
- update records
- insert text that is repeated often
- repeat common actions in several worksheets
Macros are stored as VBA which is Microsoft’s programming language. A very basic understanding of VBA allows you to make minor adjustments to the macros.
The workshop will focus on making practical, useful macros. There will also be an overview of the VBA code and how to make some minor adjustments to it; however, this is not a programming workshop.
This is an intermediate level course and while no knowledge of macros is required, attendees should be reasonably confident users of Excel spreadsheets.
Attendees must bring their own laptops (not Tablets) with full Microsoft Excel, version 2010 or higher. To check version, open a spreadsheet, click on File then Account.
Please inform the training provider if you will be bringing a Mac laptop.
This workshop is interactive and attendees will gain hands-on experience. Raw data to work and detailed notes will be provided.
Limited spaces to ensure student-centred learning.
