Microsoft Excel: Intermediate

Upskill in Excel – build on your current knowledge and expand your proficiency. 

This workshop introduces the basic, usually self-taught user, or someone who has completed the Excel Basic workshop, to helpful intermediate skills that assist in becoming a proficient user of Excel in a general business context.

Skills needed:
This is an intermediate level workshop for reasonably confident users of Excel with basic skills including an understanding of formula like sum and average, and entering and editing data.

Skills introduced:

  • General worksheets tips
  • Number and date formatting
  • Some advanced Excel Tables features
  • Introduction to Charts (graphs)
  • Use of Paste Special to copy and paste data in different ways
  • Text to columns to separate text in one column into two

Introduction to Logical Functions to write conditional formula:

  • IF()
  • IFS()

Text Functions:

  • Proper()
  • Upper()
  • Lower()
  • Concatenate()

Date Functions:

  • Today()
  • Now()
  • Date()

Attendees must bring their own laptops (not Tablets) with full Microsoft Excel, version 2010 or higher.  To check version, open a spreadsheet, click on File then Account 
Please inform the training provider if you will be bringing a Mac laptop.

This workshop is interactive and attendees will gain hands-on experience.  Raw data to work with and useful summary notes will be provided.

Cancellation Policy:
Any cancellation and/or changes must be made in writing to the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce no less than ten working days prior to the course in order to receive a full refund/credit. No refund or credit will be given for cancellations made after this or for non-attendance at the course.
