Of Hooker Pacific

Educated at Eltham Primary School, Stratford Technical High School, and (after moving to New Plymouth in 1962) at Spotswood College. 1963 Left School, joined Union Steam Ship Co as Cadet/Clerk/Ships Agent (3 years). Then 3 years various jobs/travel - waterside labourer/bricklayer/driver/boning floor hand etc. 1969 NZ Army - National Service.  Infantry - Rifleman. 1969 Married, joined Hooker Bros Shipping Division. Various roles in Shipping/Trucking. 1972 Started/Managed Hookers Moving & Storage Division. 1976 Started/Managed Hookers Heavy Haul/Project Division. 1978 Appointed Transport Manager of all Trucking Operations. 1983 Appointed General Manager of Hooker Bros. 1988 Formed partnership with 5 friends and bought the company. 2009 Currently MD/Chairman of Transport Investments Ltd - owner of Hookers and several other companies. Now largest privately owned General Transport group in NZ. Interests include business, especially transport - trucks, ships, trains. Also Family, Classic cars, Travel, History,  Reading, Horse Racing, Woodworking, Walking, Swimming, Architecture/Design Sailing & Surfing (not much these days!)
